I Do New York. part 2: The Imagination Age.

****This post is waaay overdue. I’m actually now *back* in New York. So, expect more on that later. Even if it is almost a month late, it’s important to chronicle my first visit.****

Friday morning, Alan left us to attend a family wedding in Rhode Island. So, Marianne, Jerry, and I wandered into Manhattan to see what kind of trouble we could get into.

We avoided Time Square as someone had left a rather threatening cooler in the area. We did however head over to Central Park, which was beautiful. In case you’re wondering, Central Park looks a lot like what Detroit’s Belle Isle would look like… if people were actually visiting it.

After visiting Central Park, Marianne, also left us to meet up with a New York painter she is acquainted with. So Jerry and I popped into Grand Central Station and grabbed a train to the Bronx, to visit our friends and collaborators Rita J. King and Joshua S. Fouts at the Imagination Age Salon.

I really can’t even begin to say enough nice things about Josh and Rita. They are both ridiculously brilliant and phenomenal hosts. I mean just check out the strawberry-rhubarb pie (my favorite :)) that Josh made!

After dinner, Marianne rejoined us. During our conversation she showed Rita some of her work, by which Rita was so excited that she asked Marianne to paint a mural at the Imagination Age!

So Saturday morning Marianne, started the mural… less than 8 hours later, look what she had!

And Rita also put together a beautiful video about it.

Jerry and I ran off to Brooklyn to play with some of our friends on Saturday, but were back to the Imagination Age Salon on Sunday… By this time Alan had returned from the wedding and was able to join us for dinner and some evening brainstorming and collaboration.

Our stay at the Imagination Age was outstandingly productive, as well as fun. We were able to come up with a lot of new applications for LOVELAND and the tools associated with it. And even though we head back in June, I miss Josh and Rita already.
