A Perpetual Parade Of Awesome!

This past week LOVELAND, was such a wonderful blend of work and play!

Jerry got back to Detroit around midnight last Wednesday. I decided that I wasn’t mad he had checked a bag (that we had to wait 4-EVAR for) when he revealed that he had brought me a super-awesome gift from San Fransisco.  He also brought one back for our friend PJ Ryder’s birthday, who says he’s for sure putting it up at his bar. look. Look! LOOK (it GLOWS!):

So, speaking of PJ …. PJ’s Lager House is directly across the street from Jerry’s house (better known as The Bumble) in Corktown. Jerry and I frequently stop in to meet inchvestors, collaborators, or just brainstorm. A few bands played at PJ’s birthday celebration on Saturday, one of which was The Reelers, who practice in the studio across the hall from us at the Russel Industrial Center! They’re definitely one of those bands that get better every time you see them. Jerry skipped out on most of the night to get some work done on the new website with Larry but, showed up for The Reeler’s set.

Here I am at one of The Reelers’ earlier shows at the Lager House (freakin’ out and doin’ the total fangirl thang):

Sunday was the Corktown St. Patrick’s Day Parade. As Jerry’s house is located exactly at the parade’s origin, there was really no choice but to attend, drink beer, wear green, and like it.

But not to worry! We didn’t let this day of *forced fun* get the best of us! Our dear friend and LOVELAND collaborator Alan Languirand, decided to use the parade as an opportunity to test out the Project Lemon Battery software he created! And, oh, was it ever awesome! Alan basically walked around the parade with an iphone strapped to his chest that took pictures every 10 seconds and posted them to the FLICKR

This enabled us to test out the software, document the event, and publish some of the very worst photos ever taken of me.

We call this particularly bad one “Mary Lorene Carter As Austrian Composer” (if you don’t make fun of yourself *First*, your friends will):

After the parade, we had a few friends over…

Here’s my friend Leah Diehl (“Wait, this is going on the internet?”)

After everyone left, we inadvertently took a 7 hour nap and woke up at 3am. So, obviously, there was nothing to do but watch episodes of Jim Henson’s StoryTeller and make Detroit Ice Potatoes (one of which it was necessary to freeze in beer and pineapple Faygo), Lemons, and Grapes.

I know, that it really doesn’t count as work at all but, srsly, how could opening your freezer and seeing this *not* make you smile?!
